Richard Keys said Newcastle Utd’s manager should use his own money to buy players and the takedowns were brutal
It started when Rio Ferdinand suggested on telly that Newcastle United fans should stop slagging off the club’s owner Mike Ashley and say ‘thank you’ to him instead.
It was not an opinion that went down entirely well with Newcastle fans, but one person thought he was talking absolute sense.
Former Sky Sports presenter, Richard Keys. And not only did he agree, he doubled down in spectacular style when he said this about Newcastle, Mike Ashley, and the club’s manager Rafa Benitez.
Well said @rioferdy5 👏👏. If Rafa loves Newcastle as he says – spend some of his own money. He’s got enough. Management is about teamwork – why should it always be Ashley? Buy it. It’s still for sale. They’re in the bottom 3 & Rafa is responsible. He picks the team.

The takedowns were brutal. And very, very funny.
I’m going to guess that you don’t. Because you are an employee. Now imagine BeIn refused to pay for good guests and allowed the studios to fall into disrepair, making a) your job harder and b) you look foolish, and think how you would feel. Hey presto.

Richard. Don’t move. I’m sending somebody to get you. It’s ok.

Idea for a TV show, ask football managers to spend their own money on signing players. We could call it Cashpoint Manager, me and Andy could present with Harry Redknapp. It’s our route back Lynn. pic.twitter.com/jt24sXEbhg

Imagine Benitez explaining to his wife that he’s blown the family savings on a striker from the Belgian second division. https://t.co/pfiUwN38U4
