This hotel’s response when a family left their child’s teddy behind is just awesome
Here’s a tale to warm your chilly bones, the story of a family who left their child’s cuddly toy behind in the hotel they were staying in – and what the hotel did next.
It went viral because it’s just so lovely, exactly what we needed in these less than lovely times.
1.
Having a crappy Monday? I was too.
Not only is it raining and I was back at work, but we realised last night that Doozer had left his beloved teddy bear at the hotel we stayed at, and that when we had to admit it, he was going to go from being worried (last night) to most upset.— Anna (@annapickard) January 7, 2019

I had emailed the hotel last night. Is there a white bear there, I asked? Very friendly, answers to Sutro? He has a new friend, a seal, that he had made during the trip. They’d probably be together if they could be found. We weren’t hopeful tho. Big hotel and that

They emailed back. Not only had they found Sutro safe and would be posting him back, but they sent updates so Doozer could see what he’d been doing on his extended vacation. Apparently having first visiting the laundry, he’s been at the Spa. pic.twitter.com/rFhK6m9LVI

Then they took a walk. Met the gardeners. And went to the pool. They rented a cabana (and now I’m going to have to explain why I kept telling Doozer we couldn’t afford a cabana, but… his bear can?) pic.twitter.com/pi22SiyYju

And then, this is my favourite thing, THEY CHECKED OUT OF THE HOTEL. pic.twitter.com/uJAlhOTt0t

SO thank you to Julien at @GrandHyattKauai, and his colleagues who are, apparently, just all-round lovely people who legit made me (and several dozen colleagues) cry today. Now I’m going to go and print these out and drip feed them to Doozer until Sutro lands. pic.twitter.com/uEDufv70zV

And it turned out it’s not the only lonely bear to have been given such VIP treatment.
We had a similar exp. when Teddy was left behind in Paris. Traumatic and my daughter was upset too. But he had been found already and posted back to NZ with a lovely note – if not the deluxe treatment Sutro & fren got. I suppose it happens a lot but it’s just lovely anyways!

Lovely story. @HighwaysEngland did this for my Godson when he dropped Ning Nang on the motorway when they broke down. pic.twitter.com/vVO4j21q5s

We did similar a few years ago and the Travelodge sent pictures of Bear and Dog watching TV, pulling pints, and helping at reception. Love the staff who understand and help out worried parents!
