Judging by these old posts, it’s not looking good for 2019
Remember how bad 2016 was, when all your favourite people died and political chaos spilled into everyday life and we all thought 2017 would be better, but it wasn’t? Well, it turns out that we just never learn, and blogger and designer drewtoothpaste has collected pretty solid evidence to prove it.

That’s right – not only did 2017 not turn out to be better than 2016, but we’ve been holding onto this unjustified optimism since Twitter started, and probably long before, via diaries, letters to newspapers and carvings on cave walls.
The news hasn’t gone down well.

Was going to make a joke about how in retrospect 2007 was a ok year but the top google search for things that happened in 2007 is the release of Spiderman 3, Shrek 3, and Transformers. I'm not even going to try and defend 2007.

okay now do the opposite one where everyone's like "2014 was amazing, hope 2015 plunges me into hell"

Someone felt this perfectly summed up the situation – and we can’t say they’re wrong.

Look on the bright side – the world may be getting worse year upon year, but at least we’ll always have weird cat videos.
