C4’s Jon Snow ranting about the Gatwick drone closure spoke for pretty much everyone
Everyone was angry about the idiot who shut Gatwick airport with their stupid drone. Well, apart from the person with the stupid drone.
But no-one was angrier, and not many people expressed it quite so well, as Channel 4 News man Jon Snow.
Cue Snow!

If London’s second Airport – Gatwick _ can be defeated by a couple of drones..shutting the entire place down for 12 hours+ what does it say of the UKs much vaunted defences upon which we spend so many billions?

11.40am Gatwick Airport has now been shut for 14 hours..what if the drones had carried an armament?….Pity Britain! unable to intercept, disable, or combat these devices and yet we spend more on Defence than any nation in Europe! Will Brexit sort it?

Re drones paralising Gatwick Airport: In the Second World War Spitfire pilots nudged V1 rockets fired by the Nazis and pushed them off course with their wings. If they could do that then, whatever has happened to today's RAF plumbing?!

4.
Gatwick now to be closed 7.00pm or later. 18 hours since two drones first appeared above the runway: UK defences still powerless tho' officially warned in Lord Harris's report in 2016: Mis-handling Brexit is one thing: but failing to defend the nation: is far more serious.

So far the origin, nature, and identity of those who are flying the drones onto Gatwick's runway are not know. The threat is there ..armed police and troops are now finally trying to shoot the drones down.

6.
OK folks! 19 hours after drones shut London's second airport – GATWICK, the Ministry of Defence have finally officially called the army in! What does it take to get Britain's costly defences up and running?!

7.
The Government has gone to ground on Gatwick suggesting the drone attack is serious beyond the utter chaos being suffered by passengers..No one in authority is saying anything 20 hours on. We must assume therefore that the agents of this drone incident are very serious operators.

Gatwick now to remain shut until at least 10pm tonight 25 hours after the drones were first spotted..110,000 were due to fly from their port today, and have not. We'll have full reports on Channel 4 news from Gatwick at 7.00 tonight and online.

A week of Brexit chaos crowned by the Gatwick drone shambles…..probably time to think Christmas – that surely can't go wrong!

We don’t know if Jon was waiting for a flight but we hope he gets wherever he wants to go.
Most people thought like this, given the number of shares and likes his posts generated.

Although, we have to admit, some people thought this.
Jon, this is what expensive security looks like. It looks like precaution, diligence & unfortunately, delays. You know what cheap or lack of security looks like? It looks like plane debris and grieving families. https://t.co/AXMN1xBrXn

The good news is that now this has started to happen.
The first plane has landed at London's @Gatwick_Airport, after drone disruption caused the airport to shut its runway for over a day.https://t.co/guPm79zLlj

And let’s hope someone buys Snow a drone for Christmas.
