Remember Harry Leslie Smith’s glorious shutdown of this Trump fan after the WWII veteran died aged 95
Very sad news today that Harry Leslie Smith, the WWII veteran turned political commentator has died aged 95.
Harry has been described as the ‘world’s oldest rebel’ and was an outspoken activist for the poor and the NHS with more than 200,000 followers on Twitter.
Our thoughts go out to his son John who posted this on his Twitter feed today.
At 3:39 this morning, my dad Harry Leslie Smith died. I am an orphan. #istandwithharry

And here are some of the tributes that were being paid today.
I’m so very sorry, John. Harry’s still standing, in all our hearts. #IStandWiithHarry

RIP remarkable, brilliant, inspiring @Harryslaststand aged 95. The illness was to be his last stand but what an honour and pleasure to have met him. A moral light's gone out in the world #istandwithharry

Very sad to hear of the death of Harry Leslie Smith. He was one of a kind who never wavered in his fight for equality and justice. We should all carry his passion, optimism and spirit forward.

Harry was also, as you would imagine, no fan of Donald Trump and this is what he had to say ahead of the so-called president’s visit to Britain earlier this year.
It prompted a Trump supporter to reply like this.
And Harry, naturally, had the perfect response.
RIP Harry Leslie Smith.
