This chat between David Baddiel and Ricky Gervais might be the birth of something huge
Comedian David Baddiel was at the National Book Awards this week, having been nominated for an award for his new book, Head Kid. Sadly, he didn’t scoop the prize, but he bumped into fellow comedy legend, Ricky Gervais, and later tweeted this snap of the pair.
The caption he chose to add started an exchange as funny as you’d expect from these two.
Here's me telling @rickygervais what it's like not to win an award. That's laughter both at me, and of incomprehension. pic.twitter.com/XSdxHgJwr2

I think that photo would make a great poster for an indie Rom Com. "Old Chums"

A gay one? Where’s the rom?
— David Baddiel (@Baddiel) November 22, 2018
Yes, a gay one, but only hugging. PG

David introduced a tug at the heartstrings.
I think it's more likely to be one about two divorced dads who move in together to try and recreate their teenage years and it's fun for a bit but then one of them gets cancer: and then it really *is* time to grow up…
— David Baddiel (@Baddiel) November 22, 2018
But Ricky made it a little more controversial – what a surprise.
Is it arse cancer and the other one has to suck out the poison to save him?
— Ricky Gervais (@rickygervais) November 22, 2018
It's a way to go. I'm not totally sure that works medically, though. If it does, we need to tell someone.
— David Baddiel (@Baddiel) November 22, 2018
I'm an actor, not a doctor.
— Ricky Gervais (@rickygervais) November 22, 2018
A third comedy genius added his insight.
I am a doctor and it works.. hoover is just as good (cylinder not upright)
— bob mortimer (@RealBobMortimer) November 22, 2018
Thanks Bob. I thought I had the science right but David made me doubt myself for a moment.

So, what’s it to be – gay romcom, divorced dads heartbreaker or this …
This thread between @Baddiel @rickygervais and @RealBobMortimer may just be my favourite thing ever.
