This 1972 clip from Blue Peter shows how far entertainment has moved on – or not

Experts say that our attention spans are getting shorter – oh, look – a squirrel! Apparently, it’s due to the fast-moving, clip driven world of the internet, yet back in 1972, people – albeit, mostly children – were prepared to sit and watch this segment of Blue Peter and they probably actually enjoyed it. See what you think.

Where to start with this one – apparently, the guest, named Mrs Didcot, was wearing a football kit because she was there to talk about being the striker for Drayton Ladies’ football team, but we aren’t sure when exactly the topic of her insane whistling skills came up or why they decided to run with it, but we’re glad they did.

Not everyone fell for her act.

In fact, it may not have appealed to the youth of 1972 in the way we thought.

It might not be to everyone’s taste, but one Twitter user had this to say.
