Gary Lineker’s shutdown of Piers Morgan over Raheem Sterling’s comical penalty was just brutal
It’s hardly the first time Gary Lineker and Piers Morgan have disagreed on Twitter, and neither is it the first time Lineker has ended up having the last word.
But it’s not often quite so brutal as this, so here goes.
It started with Manchester City star Raheem Sterling’s comical penalty in the UEFA Champions League last night.

Sterling then went on to score this cracker …

… and that’s when Morgan got involved.
Great goal by a great player.
Shame he felt the need to allow a fraudulent penalty earlier. https://t.co/O0SDY9leGB— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) November 7, 2018
He didn’t appeal and for all we know may have told the referee and been ignored… which is generally standard procedure. https://t.co/vDuyH9AeWq

Oh come off it… we all saw he didn't! https://t.co/whMTryHfmc

Camera cut off him on numerous occasions. Probably didn’t say anything but possibly he did. You don’t know and neither do I. Was funny though.

Funny?
That a great player kicks the turf & lets the ref award a penalty for a foul? I think it’s pathetic. https://t.co/ySDJKp5YQL— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) November 7, 2018

I'm not outraged, it's just disappointing to see an England player do that.
I'm amazed you don't agree given your normal Twitter halo. https://t.co/0OKFt89sGi— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) November 7, 2018
Say again, he stubbed his toe, he didn’t dive. Referees generally do not change their decisions even if a player confesses, which he may have done. https://t.co/gCVxJNn8uD

Stop defending the indefensible. https://t.co/4VGUUVRSnR

I’m not defending you. https://t.co/lbQ7NugkBF
