i dated a guy who eventually ran through all of his stories and then just started telling them again as if I hadn’t heard them already! and one of the few times I did share a personal anecdote he looked at me & said “i think you’ve told me this before” 🙄

True story: I once put down the phone, walked away for five minutes, came back and he was still talking to himself https://t.co/IvTBQ0p39h

one time a guy talked the whole date. When I eventually got some words out, he launched himself at me, kissed me, and said ‘sorry, I just had to kiss you to get you to stop talking!’

Wish I did but I just checked my watch & said I had to go. To which he said ‘you girls, always saying one thing when you mean another’. I left, intending to never txt again. He sent me a message maybe a week after to tell me he wasn’t interested in me! Said feeling’s mutual

And it’s not just men. Just, mostly.
I 100% believe this is common in men, but I actually once went on a date with a girl who did this! Around halfway through I realized she had not asked a single question, so I stopped volunteering info to see if she’d notice. She didn’t.

I left after 45 minutes. She texted me to say it had been a great date and that she wanted to see me again.
Yeah, girl, of course you had fun. You just had a 60 Minutes interview.

To conclude …
ahhh this is such a thing, and it's not just dates – once you starts noticing it you'll get through endless chats with male friends/colleagues/etc. and realise they never ever ask you anything about yourself https://t.co/Cs7kIxQgfH

And just in case anyone still needs help.
New dating advice book for men.
The Listening Protocol.1. Ask a woman a question about herself.
2. Actually listen and be interested in her response.
3. Ask another question arising from her answer.
4. Continue conversation with this protocol in mind. https://t.co/MrRaY7WjYz— Matthew Dalby (@MatthewJDalby) November 5, 2018
