Comedian Jenny Eclair asked about a new BBC service and something amazing happened
The BBC has launched a new app for accessing their radio content, calling it BBC Sounds. In terms we now all understand because of Brexit, it’s ‘BBC Radio App +++’, but that didn’t stop the excellent stand-up comedian, Jenny Eclair, being unsure what they were peddling.
What is Bbc sounds please and how does it differ from bbc radio?

A similarly confused Twitter user couldn’t help, but believed she knew a couple of people who could.
Can’t answer your question but it sounded just like a discussion that @hughbon and @Jason__Watkins would have had in any episode of the fabulous #W1A!!

So, they did.
It’s a good question, Jenny, and we’re glad you’ve asked it. Part of our More of Less initiative, BBC Sounds is a condensation of BBC Radio and BBC Noise, which in 2020 will be repurposed as BBC Echo – a great big empty hall, probably in Kidderminster. #W1A @jason__watkins

In case you hadn’t spotted it, Hugh Bonneville had effortlessly slipped into the kind of language so hilariously employed by his ‘BBC Head of Values’ character in the hit series, W1A. Having been tagged in by his co-star, Jason Watkins, as the ‘Director of Strategic Governance’, took up the baton.
If I can just pipe myself onboard and join the soundscape here; Not wanting to bang drums-or bang anything else either, but I championed BBC Noise™️You Guys will know better than I do how things will turn out but we have great hopes for BBC Din™️

We can’t imagine a better answer.
This is making me go to bed utterly delighted – thank you

D.J. Liz Kershaw further clarified …
So this is the thing Jenny. The thing is it's a Re brand to clarify the offer to the end user focusing on the product rather than the platform

BBC Radio Derby presenter, Sally Pepper, posted a screenshot.
When Jenny Eclair asked “what is BBC Sound and is it different to BBC Radio?”….this happened! pic.twitter.com/KJx2T9oFDZ

It prompted one person to make this comment.
This is why Twitter is the absolute best

We can’t argue with that.
