13 horrified reactions to Ted Cruz making a Zodiac Killer joke
For years, people have been suggesting that Republican Senator Ted Cruz is the notorious Zodiac Killer, in spite of the fact that he wasn’t even born when the killings began. For Halloween this year, he played along with the joke, tweeting out a weird cryptogram that was sent to a newspaper by the genuine killer.

Although some people applauded him for this apparent discovery of a sense of humour, there was an important point worth making.

ted cruz's weirdo staffers have had a meeting where they agreed the best way to ingratiate himself to the electorate was to agree with a meme that he murdered five people in california in the late 1960s https://t.co/DUtr34VXpm

Another failed attempt to be likable. I get why some on his social media team would think that embracing the jokes about Ted Cruz being the Zodiac killer would be edgy. But still, US Senators don’t get to joke about mass murder when we are in the middle of a mass murder epidemic. https://t.co/3P1MfNR0jJ

Maths aside, his joke seemed like evidence to some.
The more he jokes about it, the more I’m convinced he’s the zodiac killer. It’s like when Miley Stewart used Hannah Montana’s Driver’s license because they’re the same damn person! https://t.co/PuT9GPjW5v

Someone felt he may not have killed any people, but he’d definitely killed a perfectly good meme.
rest in peace ted cruz is the zodiac killer meme (2016-2018) https://t.co/mYxhJPZQRc

There was also a rather more simple statement from one Twitter user.
No one likes you. https://t.co/CcejrYArJn

All this just before the midterms.
I get it. The joke is that lots of people could die, like the victims of the Zodiac Killer, after Ted Cruz votes to eliminate coverage for pre-existing conditions. #VoteForBeto https://t.co/vPVilojMMU
