People have been trying to explain that weird ghostly sex scene in Ghostbusters and these are our 9 favourite comments
There’s a very odd scene in Ghostbusters, given that it’s a children’s favourite, in which Dan Aykroyd’s character is visited by a spectral seductress and makes the worst sex face in cinematic history.
Comedian and actor, Paul F. Tomkins recalled the scene and had some thoughts he just had to share.
I think it’s important to remember that the ghost who gives Dan Aykroyd a blowjob in Ghostbusters is a dream that Aykroyd’s character is having and NOT one of the ghosts loosed upon the world in waking life.

It would be weird enough if it was written into the script that of all the ghosts flying around New York City, there’s at least one who is just going around going down on people. Like, that’s odd. That this but would survive so many drafts and make it to screen.

But then it’s somehow even weirder that it survives as the DREAM of one of the characters who, I guess, is enjoying being a Ghostbuster so much that he dreams a ghost is fellating him?

Imagine if an exterminator was doing such good business that he dreamed of having a sexual encounter with a massive silverfish. Sorry. #Ghostbusters

Twitter users chipped in with their own thoughts and suggestions.

Ah but here’s where it gets weirder! That scene was originally in the film in another set piece where they catch a ghost in an old mansion. Cut it for time/budget but edited it into a dream sequence. So it was SUPPOSED to be a real fellating ghost #Ghostbusters

This can only be truly settled in a long podcast debating ghost blowjobs.

Only if we can agree to call them “ghostjobs”.

True story, when I was a kid, I thought the eye-cross thing he does was because the ghost punched him in the balls, and unzipping his pants was just so she could get a better punch in.

When I was a kid, I saw Aykroyd tell a story of having his pants unzipped by a ghost on Regis & Kathy Lee. So either that scene is based on Dan’s life, or he remembers Ghostbusters as a real thing that happened to him.

Ramis-“I don’t know about this ghost blowjob scene”
Akroyd-“No No No it’ll give me the chance to do my eyes cross thing”

As Twitter user Stake Johnson points out, we shouldn’t have been surprised.
