This woman’s daughter has just written the greatest opening lines in literature
A woman called Jo Boyles shared the opening lines of her daughter’s short story and people loved it so much it went wildly viral.
Here’s what Jo, a bookseller at Waterstones (so she knows what she’s talking about) had to say.
‘My daughter has started a story and ‘Rebecca’ no longer has the greatest opening lines in literature’
And here they are.

Sorry to outdo you, but 6yr old son's masterpiece about a T Rex called Dave is clearly winning the Booker Prize…. pic.twitter.com/ak7vaf1erS

And a few favourite responses.
Brilliant. Reminds me of a book I read as a kid where the princess comes sweeping down the stairs and the king tells her to put down that broom.

Not everyone appreciated it though.
Maybe stop sharing your daughter’s writing on twitter and actually just enjoy it with her – #unbelievableparenting
