Jacob Rees-Mogg did a Chequers joke but you had to be over 40 to get it
Theresa May’s Brexit trip to Salzburg didn’t entirely go to plan.
In fact, it couldn’t have gone much worse as EU leaders lined up to tell her the Chequers plan she’s clinging onto is a no-go, basically.
EU now says Chequers won't work, Tory sceptics say Chequers won't work, some Tory Remainers say Chequers won't work …. can Number 10 really now cling on to it?

Still, at least Jacob Rees-Mogg got a decent pun out of it, right everyone?

See what he’s done there?
Fantastic bit of banter from JRM

Except, er …
Pretty sure he has some oxbridge grad who does this for him. I don’t believe for one minute that he has ever heard of Keith Chegwin.

And then there was this.
you nicked that from @chrisdeerin. (And as if you didn't have to google it first to find out what the hell it meant) https://t.co/3MiKGhaonl

But the reference might have been lost on younger readers.
Everyone over 40 seems to think this is a great pun and I 100% do not get it. https://t.co/PdMP3yiG6B

Chequers Goes Pope was a popular light entertainment show in the early 80s, presented by vaudeville act Jeff Chequers, who dressed up as the pope

I 100% would've believed this if someone hadn't sent the real answer 10 seconds earlier

If you really do need reminding.
There’s even a whole episode.
We miss you Cheggers.
That’s reminded me Cheggers is dead and now I feel sad and old
