Someone asked this and the responses took an unexpected turn
A chap called Ethan Lawrence asked people to help him research a map in which he is going to show what different parts of the country call that irritating thing you used to do as a kid (probably).
UK followers: quick question.
What do you call the game where you knock on someone’s door and then run away?
Please reply with what you called it and where you grew up.
RT and share. Trust me, I’m going somewhere with this.

And while some of the replies were predictable, others enlightening and a few just very funny.
Here’s a bit of background before we start.
Quick background: after years of travelling around the country and meeting all sorts of people I’ve found the thing that truly divides us: what we call the game where you knock on someone’s door and then run away. And I want to make a map.

For reference, I was born and bred in Essex so it’s Knock Down Ginger for me!

“Chappy” here. Halfway between Edinburgh and Glasgow. I believe it’s an abbreviation of the fairly on-the-nose “chap door run away”.
