Jeremy Hunt called his Chinese wife Japanese and these are the only responses you need
Here’s new foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt trying to impress the watching world on his first official visit to China by referring to his Japanese wife.
He then remembered that she’s Chinese.

Swapping small talk with the Chinese foreign minister, Hunt sought to demonstrate his family ties to China.
“My wife is Japanese – my wife is Chinese. Sorry, that’s a terrible mistake to make.”
And here are the only responses you need right now.
Almost everyone: "Boris Johnson was the most offensive, disrespectful and globally embarrassing figure to hold the office of British Foreign Secretary."

Getting your own wife’s nationality wrong is normally enough for the Home Office to conclude that the marriage is a sham and refuse/revoke visa.

When people tell you we live in a meritocracy, remember that the Foreign Secretary can’t remember his own wife’s nationality. https://t.co/obFyeHU13n

For a man who can remember to claim 27p but forget where his wife’s from says a lot about him 😉

I see Jeremy Hunt, a star in May's cabinet, referred to his wife as "Japanese ", while speaking in Beijing
She is, in fact, Chinese
I sympathise. I often refer to my wife as " Japanese ", when she was, in fact, born on the Isle of Sheppey. It's a mistake that's easily made…

I see Michael Gove mistook his Chinese wife for Japanese. No …sorry, Jeremy Hunt. I always get them mixed up.

My favourite part is when he says "redo the cameras". Because what does that even mean. https://t.co/g1PHGkBQWu
