And did people take delight in the fact that Morgan’s much-hyped interview was beaten by a year-old panel game featuring his long-time arch enemy, Ian Hislop?
Of course they did, beginning with the guest host of the Have I Got News For You episode that beat him.
A repeat of me hosting #HIGNFY got more viewers than an interview with the failing low-ratings @realdonaldtrump Sad! https://t.co/HphCLQOwio

You gotta feel for the guy. He compromises his journalistic integrity, weirdly and intimately ties his own reputation to an erratic, lying, security-risk President, and then everyone would rather watch Ian Hislop for the second time anyway. https://t.co/inavMo04t3

Wow, even after 20 years, Ian Hislop owning Piers without even trying.

I wish Americans could appreciate just how hilariously brutal this is. https://t.co/KY5tKFE3xl

That twat blocked more people than watched his show. https://t.co/NUQGbP7PXQ

Morgan wasn’t taking it lying down, of course he wasn’t.
Hi Boyd, it rated very strongly when it first aired on @GMB throughout yesterday morning (21.5% share) & it rated comfortably above ITV’s slot avg when we then repeated it all again at 10.50pm.
So is it perhaps more a case of ‘I didn’t get a Trump interview (again)’ fatigue? https://t.co/MjwMAV8Ty6— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) July 17, 2018
Yes. My Trump special got double @BBCNewsnight's ratings despite airing 20 minutes later. https://t.co/UOaMnMjRTR

Although when it gets to the stage where you have to point out you beat Newsnight, the battle might already be lost.
