People have been busy owning Tim Farron after he missed a crucial Brexit vote
Former Lib Den leader Tim Farron has apologised after he managed to miss the votes on two government-backed amendments tabled by hardline Brexiters that passed with a majority of just three.
Farron wasn’t alone in missing the vote on the amendments tabled by Jacob Rees-Mogg’s hardline European Research Group. His successor Vince Cable wasn’t there either, despite the Lib Dems positioning themselves as the ‘stop Brexit party’.
Vince Cable and Tim Farron also missing from Brexit vote government only won by 3. Not a good look for the Lib Dems.

Here’s what Farron had to say for himself.
I was authorised to be absent from the vote last night for a pre-arranged engagement. Nobody expected the vote to be as close as it was. We clearly called it wrong, as did Labour, and I take full responsibility for my part – the Tories don’t deserve any luck. pic.twitter.com/XoLVPawtmo

Farron was giving a talk in Dorset on how he squares his controversial views as an evangelical Christian with being a liberal politician.
Here are our favourite things people are saying about the pair online right now.
1.
All Tim Farron had was opposing Brexit, and he's fucked that up.

2.
I despair. Genuinely despair. Even the people who could help can't get their act together. @timfarron and @vincecable should be utterly ashamed. The Commons is a cesspit of the venal, the incompetent, of fuckwittery and cockwomblery. https://t.co/QNLMEaDW8j

The ERG Amendment was passed by 3. Vince Cable and Tim Farron weren’t even present. Farron was in, er, Sherborne giving a talk about the demise of liberalism.
