An ex-footballer said this about women commentators and the responses weren’t what you’d expect
Here’s former Spurs and Chelsea footballer Jason Cundy on Good Morning Britain today sharing his view that women shouldn’t commentate on football matches because, er, their voices are too high pitched.

Cue a massive bucket of shit dropped on him from online, right? Well, er, actually, take a look at this lot.
1.
@GMB Yes women football commentators should be banned. I would much prefer to listen to a male commentating on a match than a woman.

2.
Do you feel the same way about women's voices on the news?
— Rebecca Reid (@RebeccaCNReid) June 25, 2018
3.
Totally different. About as applicable as saying “how about on a sat nav?”
— John Kelly (@jjpkelly1) June 25, 2018
4.
Totally agree with Jason, I don't want to hear a womans opinion on a match they should stick to women's football.

That's not what he's saying. He's saying regardless of their opinions he just hates the sound of all women's voices. Which is the definition of misogyny btw.

Spoils the game for me hearing a woman commentating on a men’s match.Hopefully this is just a massively failed experiment gone terribly wrong and they’ll bin it…..please

8.
does it spoil the olympics for you when men commentate on women's events.

9.
No mate,in general I’d rather listen to male commentators, they are just better at it in my opinion.

Totally agree with him ! it doenst matter how clever and informed she is. A high pitched voice for 90 minutes is torture , let alone when the teams score ! PS I am a lady myself .

11.
I so agree with you @jasoncundy05 – sorry ladies, of which I am! – men commentating on football only. ⚽⚽⚽

Thank god I’m not alone!!!! Want male commentators please!!

I agree with @jasoncundy05 I'm a female who adores football but I dislike female commentators very much. It is just the BBC making sure they are showing equality. Her commentating really was dreadful and her voice really grated on me.

All the women going “omg I agree with this!!!1!” 🙄🙄🙄🙄

I'm actually appalled right now.

Wasn’t entirely one way traffic, it should be pointed out. But it wasn’t flowing in the direction you might have expected. Or maybe it’s just us that thought everyone would be saying this.
If any woman knows what she is talking about, has the knowledge about the game, then nothing, absolutely nothing should stop her from commentating. Its as simple as that.
