‘Homophobes learning history through video games’ is a very satisfying read

We are grateful to someone called @9_volt88 on Twitter for sharing the learning curve of these gamers getting to grips with ancient history via the medium of video games.

Well, it’s one way of doing it.

And just in case that’s tricky to read, the dialogue in full …

‘Assassins Creed Odyssey lets you be as gay as you want.

‘This takes place in Ancient Greece, right? The Greeks followed religious doctrine, so they would kill somebody for being gay. Therefore, if this series, which prides itself in its historical realism (apart from characters having an impact) is gonna add this, it’s wrong.’

‘LOL YOU THINK ANCIENT GREECE WASN’T GAY’

‘I know Ancient Greece followed Christianity’

‘Don’t see why this has to be implemented.’

‘Because it’s historically correct?’

‘How is choosing the decision of playing a male or female assassin and having sexual relations with both genders in a time that’s probably before the year of 1000 historically correct?’

‘Did you actually Google? Try doing that, apparently homosexuality was very normal in ancient Greece, which is why they decided to implement that aspect and it’s replant in today’s society too so bonus points.’

These responses were pretty good too.
