Luxemboug PM nails Brexit so well it makes Robert Peston want to retire
Spare a thought for Robert Peston today after he took one look at how the Luxembourg prime minister described Brexit and thought ‘yep, can’t do better than that’.
This makes me want to retire as a journalist, because I have been desperate to put Brexit in a simple nutshell, and the bloomin’ PM of Luxembourg has done it perfectly. Impossible to better. Sigh https://t.co/GwOi0vwX1e

So what exactly did Xavier Bettel say to make the former BBC man want to chuck it all in?
Lux PM Bettel: "They were in with a load of opt-outs. Now they are out, and want a load of opt-ins.”

To be fair, that IS pretty good. Almost as good as this, in fact.
I think the letter to the Irish Times says it all in the fewest words. #succinct pic.twitter.com/E19AWSsciH

We love Robert as much as the next man, but we’re not sure he’s ever described anything in so few words. Keep up the great work Pesto!
We were never really "in" – that's the problem. We were involved, but not committed.

We were definitely in, and paid our dues, though we kept sneering at the other members, and extending our bar tab, and leaving a mess on the floor of the WC. Our behaviour was tolerated, because we used to be good at writing rules for games.

"We were never really in"
Angus,
Seeing as we designed the Single Market, your comment is a load of 💩— Stuart Budd 🇬🇧🇪🇺❄️ #FBPE #ABTV (@StuartBudd1) March 7, 2018
