This Blue Peter clip of Shep interrupting Roy Castle playing the spoons is one of the most joyous things you’ll ever see
This clip from the BBC archive has a lot going for it, the straight nostalgia of seeing John Noakes and Roy Castle in their prime, the dated clothes, the weirdness of having a segment on kids TV teaching them to play spoons.
But what makes it is the Blue Peter dog, Shep who enters at around the 1 minute mark, so excited by the noise and drumming that he can hardly contain himself.
And so starts 45 seconds of the best TV ever broadcast.

Our heart is pumping. We’re watching that again – such joy to see an excited dog and three TV legends in one place.
