Grumpy man-babies edited women out of The Last Jedi and its stars’ response was glorious

A bunch of MRAs – that’s ‘Men’s Rights Activists’ – were unhappy that there were a lot of women in the new Star Wars film, The Last Jedi.

So they recut it to take them all out, which left only 46 minutes but they appeared to think it was an improvement.

A film writer called Priscilla Page came across their new version and this is what she made of it.

But then the stars of the film found about it too, and it was at this point that it all turned rather glorious.

First, the film’s writer and director Rian Johnson.

Then Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill.

Then John Boyega, who plays Finn.

And back to Luke Skywalker again.

Here’s what film critic @sidizenkane made of their responses.

The recut of the film, which was posted to the file sharing site Pirate Bay, is called The Last Jedi: De-Feminized Fanedit (aka the Chauvinist Cut).

Changes include Princess Leia, whose role is edited so she no longer “scolds, questions nor demotes” the rebel fighter pilot Poe Dameron, and Captain Phasma, who meets a swift end.

This is because “women are naturally weaker than men, she isn’t force-sensitive, and we know nothing about any exoskeleton in her suit”.

Right.

Some people still weren’t happy though.
