Someone tweeted this about their dad and the response was just amazing

This makes me think of my Mum, passed away many years ago when I was 13 but the smell of a roast chicken dinner cooking with paxo and the smell of ironing reminds me of Sunday mornings in my childhood home with Simon Bates on the radio. Smells and sounds always take you back 💔😢

My dad died last year. I’ve formed a fierce attachment to a now very broken umbrella he gave me the year before he died. I won’t ever let it go.

When dad moved in with me as he was nearing the end of stage 4 lung cancer, I said I fancied a treat & he said there was a packet of bourbons back at his flat, he died less than a week later, I still have them.

And I thought I was the only one who felt closest to my grandma when in Marks and Spencers. She loved mint imperial and white farmhouse loaves and boxes full of pop socks. I spoke about her love for M&S in her eulogy. I miss her so very much.

I remember my Dad’s last Christmas Day and how he struggled to open his presents but was so thankful for them. He died the next morning and Christmas has never been the same. Thank you for everything Dad.

There was also this wonderful exchange.
Your dad wasn’t a teacher was he?
— 🌹Sam M 🌹 (@SamanthaErica87) November 11, 2017
He was, yes.
— Rachael Prior (@ORachaelO) November 11, 2017
Oh goodness, yes. Now I am crying a little bit. Did you go to his school?
— Rachael Prior (@ORachaelO) November 11, 2017
Yes I did. I had the time of my life at that school, it was everything that a primary school should be. Your dad was a huge part of that. Also, his assemblies were legendary 😊

Thank you so much for this. It means an incredible amount to me. I’m so happy you were happy there. I was too. Twitter can be so lovely xoxo

And here’s what people said about the thread.
Just been looking at this thread. Got to stop. Crying my eyes out – and not from any remembrance; you’re just all such lovely people with lovely stories. Love to you all. And thanks, Rachel

Having read a lot of these lovely tweets, do you think M&S have any inkling why people keep coming into their stores and bursting into tears?
— Sue Denton (@Denton10Sue) November 12, 2017
Your thread has risen my flagging spirits today worried about the festive period approaching; my funny fab mum has got inoperable cancer; I am in turns snotting tears and the numb+staring i don’t feel so alone now thanks

What an absolutely beautiful thread – more connected and emotionally impactful than any high street store Christmas advert could ever hope to be…Thank you for sharing & curating 🌹

We've been having a good read, just trying not to interfere too much. Some beautifully written, heart-felt messages on this thread that many of us here can relate to

Oh, and not forgetting her response after MailOnline got in touch.
@ORachaelO Hi Rachel, would it be ok to use your pictures for the MailOnline, please? Best, Conor
— Conor Nolan (@ConorNolan) November 13, 2017
Really, honestly, my dad would turn in his grave if you put his picture in your bible of hate. You expressly do not have my permission.
