Maybe choosing Halifax to launch the Tories’ manifesto wasn’t such a good idea

Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea for the Conservatives to launch their manifesto in Halifax.

It was the first time the Tories had ventured so far north for such a set piece event, staged in a converted derelict mill in the traditional Labour stronghold.

Here’s what happened next.

Maybe this is why (Halifax has had only two Conservative MPs since the second world war).

Here’s the slightly comedic scenes of the Tory front bench arriving to join the Maybot, each of them greeted with a big “Good morning!” and occasionally an ironic cheer by the bunch of photographers who have presumably been hanging around forever.
