“Been contacted by a man who found my wallet at Reading 2003, took £10 out to buy cider and held an annual drinking competition in my honour”

Tim Burrows over on Twitter has an incredible story: he lost his wallet at the Reading Festival in 2003, and he’s just been contacted by people who stole £10 from it and hold an annual drinking competition in his honour.

It started when Guardian subeditor Tim Burrows got a Facebook message on his phone from a mysterious Giles, “Did you lose a wallet at Reading once?”

“I did used to go to Reading”, Tim Burrows replied, “Did you find my wallet?”

And then the story just gets better and better:

“I think you need to go to the next event” writes @Realgamequoter “And write a Guardian piece about it. An experience that changed me: finding out some lads held a drinking competition in my name.”

In fact let us all drink tonight to Tim Burrows! Let it be an annual holiday for everyone!

Let’s all drink the Ace tonight! For Tim Burrows!
