A troll-genius tricked people into drilling into their iPhone 7s and they’re fuming

YouTube troll TechRax posted a video of a supposed hack to insert a headphone socket into an iPhone 7, USING A DRILL!

Now, any sensible person would have laughed and moved on, but some complete tools actually tried the ‘hack’ on their phones and – surprise, surprise – they broke.

The comments are comedy gold.

The instructions went like this:

1. Put your brand new, very expensive iPhone 7 in a vice.  (The first big red flag)

2. Drill into the phone using a 3.5mm bit. (Even bigger red flag)

3. Plug in the headphones and enjoy (Like it would be that easy)

He makes it seem so reasonable in the video.

And that’s where the trouble really starts.  For example, lol atu commented

“Dude are you serious?! I just paid $800 dollars for this thing and now it turns on but the screen just had a few dots on it. I think my phone’s dead! Fuck my mom’s going to be so pissed! I hope insurance covers this”

Jacob Lay posted “What the hell my iPhone is broke now thanks to this guy” while MackaliMesut added “drilled the hole in it. The headphone doesn’t go all the way in. Do I need to drill deeper? Also my phone turned of because of low battery I think. I’m charging it for an hour now it doesn’t turn on, is this normal?” D’Oh!

But others had clearly spotted the joke.

Perhaps best of all, Unique Edibility told people how to finish the job off properly:

“Instructions (after you’ve made the jack) : Grab your phone, dip it in warm water for about 3 – 5 seconds, then use a lighter to dry the headphone jack to warm it. Enjoy.”
