According to this brilliant map of Tasmania, most of it was named by puerile drunks

The island state of Tasmania may have a population of just over half a million, but it clearly has the best named places of anywhere in the world.

And yes, Peculiar Nob, Titwobble Lane, Windy Saddle, Pensioners Bush and Intercourse Island are actual place names featured on a map by British company Strumpshaw, Tincleton & Giggleswick (which also sounds made up and slightly rude).
