People have to sign a ‘no-sex’ agreement before they’re allowed to buy this robot

New owners of a Japanese robot have been asked to sign a no-sex contract before they are allowed to take it home, reports i100.

The droid, called ‘Pepper,’ is an “emotional robot” that’s designed to mimic human emotions and specifically help Japan’s ageing population in their own homes.

The Guardian reports that when it went on sale earlier this year, part of the user agreement states that: “The policy owner must not perform any sexual act” on the robot or engage in “other indecent behaviour”.

Another clause in the user agreement bans owners from using Pepper to send out spam emails, while a spokesperson for its manufacturer SoftBank said that tampering with its software to give it a “sexier” voice would also be frowned upon.

So sadly for fans of robo-whoopsie, it seems like for now the only permitted thing you can do in a hotel room with a robot is have it bring you room service.
