Journalists struggling to spell the Hadron Collider correctly

The Large Hadron Collider has been restarted today, so let’s look at the real danger it poses to the world – not a universe-swallowing black hole, but journalists trying to spell ‘Hadron’.

ITV got close.

As did the Las Vegas Sun Times.

The BBC famously got carried away.

Nature World Report also had its mind in the gutter.

As did Wired magazine.

And both in the Telegraph’s ‘Men’ section…

…and a headline in their science section.

So what have we learned? Clearly the real danger here isn’t the Higgs boson, but our spelling abilities.
