Robot vacuum cleaner ‘attacks’ sleeping woman

A woman was sleeping on the floor of her home when the robotic cleaner ingested her hair leaving her in agony.

Firefighters responding to the unnamed woman’s ‘desperate pleas’ were eventually able to free her.

The 52-year-old resident of Changwon city ended up being the victim of what many believe is a peek into a dystopian future in which supposedly benign robots turn against their human masters’ – reports The Guardian.

The woman, whose name is being withheld, was taking a nap on the floor at home when the vacuum cleaner locked on to her hair and sucked it up, apparently mistaking it for dust.

The Daily Mirror also ponders whether this is the ‘opening salvo in the impending war between man and machine.’

South Korean newspaper Kyunghyang Shinmun reports paramedics were able to free her without injury, but it is not known if she intends to keep the rebellious robot.
