Mark Kermode’s Hair Improves The Movies

Film critic Mark Kermode gives us an exclusive run down of the movies most improved by the addition of his distinctive 1950’s rockabilly style haircut.

Gandhi (1982)

Mark says: “Sir Ben Kingsley may have won an Oscar for his portrayal of the Indian leader, but let’s face it – nobody takes bald men seriously. My hair would have changed that – and perhaps the course of history – forever.”

The Godfather (1972)

Mark says: “Some advice I wish I could have given Marlon Brando – less Godfather, more Modfather. Yeah?”

Taxi Driver (1976)

Mark says: “Travis Bickle’s mohawk certainly makes for a powerful end to the film, but as haircuts go it’s no match for a quiff, which is far more stylish and approachable – he probably wouldn’t have ended up getting shot to death if he had my hair.”

Turner & Hooch (1989)

Mark says: “I just love dogs in wigs. Do you think they can they add a wig with CGI for the blu-ray release?”
