Couple splits over what to do with that box of old chargers and leads

Argument News: Mary Elling, 38, and long-term partner Paul Davids, 39, ended their relationship yesterday evening, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ over what to do with that box full of old chargers, leads, two old mobile phones and some adapters they bought in Thailand.

Couple splits over what to do with that box of old chargers and leadsIt just winds me up that Paul won’t just throw it all away,” says Mary, who has repeatedly tried to sort through the box but has been unable to because ‘all the leads are tangled up and it’s a fucking nightmare’.

“I keep telling her – we might need something in there one day,” says Paul. “It’s all perfectly good stuff that’s just waiting for that crucial moment to become useful again.”

The box, which has followed the pair through two house moves, and has spent time both under the bed and on the shelf above the washing machine, is now in a cupboard in the spare room.

I need to put some shoes in there now,” Mary continues.

He caught me chucking the whole box in the wheelie bin outside. When he started waving one of the old phones in my face, telling me that one day it would be a collector’s item, I just couldn’t take it anymore.”
