Tesco to give 20,000 jobs to one man

Unemployment News: Supermarket chain Tesco has been criticised over its pledge to create 20,000 jobs in the U.K, after the revelation that all 20,000 jobs will go to just one man.

The firm said the new jobs would include full and part-time positions, but admitted all of them would be performed by a single person working really, really hard.

Roger Deakins, 28, will start doing the 20,000 jobs next week and is said to be ‘keen to get started’ but is worried ‘he’ll forget something’.

Tesco UK CEO Richard Brasher remained upbeat about the promised jobs. “If this goes well, we can look at creating thousands of more jobs in the UK.”

“Of course that means thousands of redundancies, as if one man can do the work of 20,000, why do we need to employ so many people?”

Doubt has also been cast over other supermarket’s claims about job creation. Asda pledged ‘30,000 job opportunities in the Asda team in 2011’ but later admitted that 99% of the number would consist of gingerbread men.
