Queen’s 62-gun salute destroys O2 arena

Queen News: A 62-gun Royal salute held to mark the accession of the Queen to the throne ended in tragedy today, when it destroyed the O2 Arena and killed dozens of eager Snow Patrol fans who had turned up to the venue early.

The disaster occurred earlier today when the 62-gun salute held at the Tower of London used live rounds instead of blanks, an error which a Buckingham Palace spokesman is blaming on “somewhat over enthusiastic members of the Honourable Artillery Company.”

The O2 Arena suffered major damage and it is feared that at least 24 Snow Patrol fans died during the salute.

“On one hand it’s really sad to see the pale, lifeless bodies of these young music fans splattered all over the car park,” said O2 Event Manager Brian Pasty-Filling.

“But on the other hand, who turns up to a gig a week early? These pricks had it coming.”
