Streep insists Iron Lady sex scenes are ‘artistic’

Movie News: Actress Meryl Streep has defended the highly explicit sex scenes in her new film The Iron Lady, saying that they are ‘artistic’ and ‘essential to the narrative’.

The explicit nature of the love scenes has shocked both critics and audiences alike. “I didn’t expect so much flesh on display for a biopic about Margaret Thatcher,” said Guardian film critic Percy Melton-Mowbray.

“The scenes seem to make up the majority of the film. It’s one thing to show how her kids were conceived, but the sex scene with Reagan went on for a full 30 minutes, and I’m positive you see it going in at some point.”

“I’m no prude,” said Mum of three Sophie Tabbouleh, who had just watched the film. “But I don’t think showing Thatcher and Argentinian President Galtieri heatedly going at it in a motel room is an appropriate metaphor for the Falklands war.”

The British Board of Film Classification has confirmed that it asked for over 3 minutes of cuts, including one ‘gratuitous’ closeup of Norman Tebbit’s nutsack hanging out of his pajamas.
