Clegg to sit on kids table at No.10 Christmas lunch

Xmas News: Deputy PM Nick Clegg will not eat with the grown-ups, and instead sit at the children’s table during the Downing Street Christmas lunch this year.

The move is understood to have come about after Cameron’s recent threats to pull out of the Christmas lunch all together and eat his, alone, in the kitchen.

Cameron would only return to the table if Clegg was forced to sit with the children, though Clegg now claims that this was his idea all along – part of his plan to avoid a ‘two speed’ Christmas.

Said Clegg, “I am determined to re-engage with all of our dining partners, to get back on the front foot, and to make sure that our vital national self-interest in being at the heart of Christmas is properly followed through during the weeks and months ahead.”

Clegg went on to say that he will do everything he can “to ensure this setback does not become a permanent divide.” He has suggested a game of musical chairs after lunch.
