It’s always been a dream of mine to be a Lord. It’s the only reason I started the graff. Back in the day I promised myself that if graffiti hadn’t got me into the House of Lords by the age of 40, I’d admit defeat, give it all up and get a job as Assistant Commissioner of the Met or something.”

It’s been a good year all-round for urban-outlaw Lord Banksy. In just six months he has picked up an MBE, a Victoria Cross, a driving licence and an honorary PhD in Molecular Biology. His honorary thesis examined gel electrophoresis and macromolecule blotting and probing.

It’s been the best year of my life,” enthused artist-cum-criminal Lord Banksy of Hoxton PhD, “except maybe 2007, when my name ‘Banksy’ was included in the Oxford English Dictionary and I danced for His Majesty King Abdullah Bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud during a sleepover party at Chequers. That was a good year. And I was made the face of Wall’s Sausages.”
