DO's & DON'T's

CELINE DION'S well-publicised whistle-stop tour of Hong Kong was a thumbs up and thumbs down affair this week. Attending a launch party for her new album and later a movie premier, it’s difficult to believe Celine was full of eastern promise one night and a Hong Kong howler the next!

Celine is well known for her provocative evening suits and now she’s turned her talented eye to wearing a wonderful, exclusive arch-bishop style gown, complete with 18ct gold claw set cross pendant.
The religious tunic brings to life the heavy-cottoned fabrics and flattering, fluid lines that are this season’s trademark. The exciting aeroplane hat, specially designed by Claude Rousseau, to ‘symbolise her forward-thinking exuberance and aura’, complements the parochial effect.

Whatever your opinion of out-sized wolf-wear, there’s no denying they’re last season’s story. Celine tries to balance the outfit with a
softer, princess skirt, made in a dusky gold taffeta, but the button-back chemise doesn’t go with the predictable choice of arm-length satin gloves. And the matching Thai silk ballet slippers are yawn-inducing too. Sorry Celine, this is one lupine outfit that doesn’t
stand out from the pack.
