Major air, land and sea rescue called off after missing man found having pint in pub

It could be the most expensive pint ever.

A major rescue effort involving police, coastguard and lifeboat services spent two hours scouring an area of Snowdonia after a man was reported missing.

Locals got all excited by a helicopter whizzing up and down the estuary and flares being shot into the sky in the hunt for the man who disappeared after he went out for a walk with his dog.

In one of the great understatement of all time, a coastguard spokesman said the man, who was having a drink at the nearby Ship Aground pub, “didn’t understand what all the fuss was about”.
