The Spanish government’s plan to ban memes isn’t going too well

Spanish prime minister Mariano Rajoy’s Popular Party recently announced a plan to ban the use of memes in the country – and guess what? It was met with memes and mockery.

Euroweeklynews reports that the scheme was put before Congress and would see restrictions placed on “spreading images that infringe the honour of a person.” It has been referred to as “the gag law” by critics.

Spaniards ridiculed the idea, using the hashtag #SinMemesNoHayDemocracia (no democracy without memes).
