Tombili, Istanbul’s internet-famous reclining cat, now has his own statue
Tombili, the cat who shot to internet fame after this picture of him relaxing in the Ziverbey area of the city went viral, sadly died back in August after a month-long illness, reports Hurriyet Daily News.
His death was initially announced by a notice hung on a tree in the street, but now there’s a more permanent memorial – after over 12,000 people signed a petition, Tombili got a statue. Here are some shots of the sculpting and the recent installation.
