The “Ambiguous Cylinder Illusion” may break your brain

The finalist of the ‘Best Illusion of the Year Contest 2016’ was this optical illusion by Kokichi Sugihara, in which circular cylinders seem square when reflected in a mirror.

Luckily someone has provided an explanation of the trick that doesn’t use words like “witchcraft” or “CGI”.

Some else has reverse-engineered and 3D printed one of the cylinders to demonstrate how it works.
