BBC reporter invited to smash the longest glass bridge in the world with a sledgehammer

The longest glass bridge in the world is set to open next month in China, and the builders are eager to prove to visitors that it’s perfectly safe – so they asked BBC Click reporter Dan Simmons to stand on the bridge and try to smash it with a sledgehammer.

It might be a bit of sample glass, but the whole smashy-breaky-shattery thing probably wasn’t what they hoped for. If you had further doubts, people on Facebook had advice…

On how to actually break the glass, and who should test this theory.

And an engineering explanation of why its actually safe.

But the simple ideas are the best.
