Kay Burley just tweeted an RIP about someone who died 26 years ago and people are confused
This morning Sky News presenter Kay Burley tweeted an RIP message about Malcolm Muggeridge, the journalist and author who died in 1990.
This led to much bafflement, piss-takery and other belated RIP’s on Twitter. Had she just found out about his death? He died on the 14th November 1990, so it wasn’t even an anniversary.
@KayBurley There wasn’t Twitter when he died so she is just backdating her condolences. RIP Charlie Chaplin

Some suggested she had got Muggeridge confused with some others who recently passed away.
@chrishawtree In 1990, yes. Cliff Michelmore, Malcolm Muggeridge. IT’S CLOSE ENOUGH

@KayBurley I think you mean Paul Daniels..

Who knows? Maybe she’s just steadily working her way through celebrity deaths. One of the actors who played E.T died on November 28th 1990, so we can all look forward to Burley’s moving tribute to her.
At least the internet was there to help.
Thanks all for correcting me re Malcolm Muggerdige. Some of you more polite than others, as ever
