Wetherspoons to trial pint delivering drone barstaff

Pub chain J.D Wetherspoon has announced ambitious plans to replace barstaff with autonomous drones who will drop pints on drinkers.

“At Wethersppons we are always keen to embrace cutting edge technology and improve the customer experience,” said a spokesman.

“A fleet of autonomous drones flying overhead, vertically delivering pints and a variety of hot and cold food, will not only cut operating costs but give customers something to talk about, as well as dodge.”

The plan will see customers ordering drinks and food on a special app, then catching their order when a drone buzzing overhead releases its boozy payload.

“Obviously there are still some minor details to work out,” said the spokesman.

“Such as lawsuits from people covered in broken glass, beer and piping hot curry when they fail to catch their order – but the technology is here and must be embraced at any cost, regardless of what common sense suggests.”
