Empty Chair Announced As The New Face Of BBC News

Media News: An empty chair is set to anchor the BBC’s 10 o’clock news in a bid to overcome claims of bias by the broadcaster and make the relentless stream of horrible stories seem less depressing.

After a few initial appearances on the BBC News 24 channel, the empty chair will take over the flagship evening news programme from current presenter Huw Edwards.

“After over a decade helming the BBC News at Ten I shall be very sorry to leave, but feel confident that the empty chair can bring a breath of fresh air to the important stories of the day,” said Edwards.

The empty chair has already proven to be a hit with viewers, and the decision to have it host the 10 o’clock news was a natural one, claims the BBC.

“The empty chair brings a refreshingly strong, silent style of presentation to the News at Ten, meaning audiences will no longer be able to complain about BBC bias,” said a spokesman.

“Plus, the news itself will also be a lot less depressing when fronted by an inanimate object that is unable to speak or communicate in any way. We predict millions more viewers will regularly tune in for half and hour of non-informative silence every night.”
