The award-winning ITV series is set to return on Sunday, but animal rights groups are demanding the channel cease the ‘unacceptable exploitation’ of the celebrities, who often appear to be ‘scared, confused and very fragile.’

Many groups are calling for the celebrities to be destroyed before the show even starts, in order to ‘end the unnecessary suffering’.

The letter reads: “The problem is that many celebrities are already misunderstood and thus unfortunately vilified, despite the incredibly important roles they play in the world’s media ecosystems and our lives.”

“ITV should put an end to this inhumane, embarrassing use of dumb animals immediately. Simply lead them into a VIP area with the promise of free champagne, then fire a bolt gun into the back of their skulls.”
