What Do Monsters Do On Their Day Off?

Even unspeakable horrors need to recharge their batteries from time to time, making sure they can provide the enthusiastic scares you expect rather than some lacklustre spookings barely worthy of an episode of Most Haunted. @QuantumPirate went behind the scenes to find out what these screen terrors do when they get some free time.

Freddy Krueger

Putting those gloves to good effect in the kitchen, horrifically scarred Lord of Nightmares Freddy loves to host dinner parties and try out new recipes. “My dream is to appear on Come Dine With Me”, he says, “although if I had my way it would be Come DIE With Me! Arf, arf.”

Skeletons

“You think this look comes easy?” one skeleton told us. “I have to spend every waking hour in the gym to keep the pounds off. I blame horror magazines for depicting an unattainable cadaver image.”

 

 

The Xenomorph

Always keen to keep her instincts sharp, Ripley’s long-time nemesis is a regular Laser Quest player, although rules forbidding climbing and running mean she’s at a disadvantage, and as acid blood ruins the equipment she’s banned from most venues outside London.

 

 

Pinhead

Life as a Cenobite is tough, and it’s easy for them to let their work torturing and mutilating eat up all their time, so maintaining their social networks is a great way to stay in touch with Hell while also indulging in their other interests.

 

 

Zombies

Generally portrayed as mindless stumbling simpletons with a taste for human flesh, the group of zombies we interviewed were keen to stress that their love of brains didn’t just extend to the taste, and that they enjoyed testing their knowledge at their local pub quiz night.

 

 

Sadako

For a girl who spends so much time down a well, a day off to binge on the latest ‘must watch’ series is a godsend. “I’m in the middle of Breaking Bad at the moment”, quips Sadako, “now you have 7 days to recommend it to somebody else or I’ll come get you!”
