Sting Operation! Burglar Hospitalised After Disturbing Wasps’ Nest (While Trying To Steal A Fish Tank)
Yorkshire, UK: A burglary suspect ended up in hospital after falling victim to a painful sting operation – when he disturbed a nest full of wasps’ – reports the Yorkshire Evening Post.
‘The man allegedly broke into a shop in Hunslet on Saturday night and stole a fish tank. But when police were called he made the unwise decision to hide in a bush that was home to a wasps’ nest’ – reports the newspaper.
‘Officers arrested him after hearing his cries as he was stung repeatedly.
Inspector Chris Bowen, of the Leeds neighbourhood policing team (NPT), said: “Instead of taking him to the cells, we had to take him straight to hospital.”
There was little sympathy for the suspect from internet users when news of his arrest was posted on the NPT’s Facebook page.
The post was ‘liked’ by more than 1,700 people.
One user joked that the burglar must have been “buzzing” after the incident.
